Abstract

Water scarcity is a critical issue in the Nile Basin of Nigeria, exacerbating environmental degradation and socio-economic challenges. Qualitative data collection methods were employed to gather insights from stakeholders including government officials, community leaders, and local farmers. A significant proportion (45%) of surveyed communities reported reduced crop yields due to inadequate access to irrigation water. The research identified the need for improved water management practices and collaborative governance structures among basin states. Implement targeted agricultural interventions, promote community-based water resource management programmes, and enhance intergovernmental cooperation in water resources development.
