Abstract

Youth engagement programmes for homeless children in Egyptian coastal cities have become a focal point of social development initiatives aimed at integrating vulnerable youth into mainstream society. A mixed-methods approach was employed, incorporating pre- and post-programme assessments with qualitative interviews to gauge participant experiences and outcomes. Significant improvements in educational enrollment were noted; more than half of the participating children enrolled in secondary schools compared to only a quarter before the programme. The programmes showed promising results in enhancing social integration, particularly through increased access to education which is crucial for future employment prospects. Further research should focus on long-term follow-up and explore scalability of successful interventions across different coastal cities.
