Abstract

AI and data governance have become critical in shaping societal norms and policies globally, with significant implications for African societies. The approach involves a review of existing literature on ethics, AI, and data governance, as well as consultations with stakeholders including policymakers, technologists, and ethicists. A key finding is the high reliance on traditional knowledge systems in decision-making processes, which should be integrated into AI frameworks to enhance trust and acceptance. The integration of ethical considerations into data governance policies can lead to more inclusive and sustainable development outcomes in Ghanaian societies. Recommendations include incorporating traditional values into AI systems, establishing a dedicated ethics committee, and promoting public education on AI impacts.
