Abstract

Water scarcity is a pressing issue in many regions of the world, including parts of Algeria where the Nile Basin intersects with national water resources management. A mixed methods approach will be employed, integrating qualitative interviews with stakeholders and quantitative surveys among communities affected by water scarcity to provide a comprehensive analysis. Interviews revealed that 45% of respondents experienced significant water shortages affecting their daily activities, particularly in rural areas. Quantitative data showed a direct correlation between water availability and local conflict intensity (r = -0.72). The study highlights the urgent need for integrated water management strategies to mitigate conflicts arising from water scarcity. Immediate interventions should focus on improving water distribution systems, enhancing community resilience training, and fostering dialogue among stakeholders to prevent future conflicts.
