Assessment of Urban Hospitals’ Quality Assurance Programmes in Malaria Medication Management

Abstract
Urban hospitals in Dakar, Senegal face challenges in managing malaria medications effectively. A mixed-methods approach combining qualitative interviews with quantitative data analysis of hospital records from to . Findings indicate that while some hospitals have robust monitoring systems in place, there is a notable lack of standardised protocols for medication storage and dispensing across all surveyed institutions (\(n=5)\). The assessment reveals significant disparities in the implementation of quality assurance measures among urban hospitals. Recommendation 1: Hospitals should establish formalized training programmes for staff regarding malaria medication management. Recommendation 2: Standardization of storage conditions and inventory tracking systems is essential to enhance medication efficacy and safety.
