Food security remains a critical issue in many regions of Ethiopia, with school meal programmes seen as potential solutions. A qualitative study was conducted through semi-structured interviews with 50 households and focus group discussions involving 20 teachers and 30 students from selected schools across Oromia Region. Households reported a significant increase (40%) in food consumption, particularly during school meal programme implementation periods. The study underscores the positive impact of school meal programmes on enhancing food security among participants. Further research should explore broader impacts and scalability of these programmes across different regions of Ethiopia.
