Abstract
This study examines the impact of agricultural value chain development on smallholder farmer income stability in Mozambique's coastal zones. A mixed-methods approach was employed, including surveys of 500 smallholder farmers and case studies in three coastal districts. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and thematic analysis. Farmers reported a significant increase (34%) in income stability when value chains were enhanced with market access and improved production techniques. Enhanced agricultural value chains have positively impacted smallholder farmers' income stability, warranting further policy support for such initiatives. Government and development agencies should prioritise supporting infrastructure improvements and training programmes to sustain these benefits.
