The African University Landscape in Knowledge Production and Dissemination: A Comparative Study in Kenya
Abstract
The landscape of knowledge production and dissemination in African universities is a critical area for understanding educational and research advancements. A comparative qualitative approach was employed to analyse data from various Kenyan universities, including interviews with academic leaders and a review of institutional publications. University engagement in research output is notably higher among public institutions compared to private ones, indicating a need for policy alignment across sectors. The findings suggest that concerted efforts are required to enhance collaboration between public and private universities to promote equitable knowledge dissemination. Recommendations include fostering partnerships between different university types to ensure comprehensive coverage of African Studies topics.
