Abstract

The agricultural sector in Nigeria is a significant contributor to its economy, yet women farmers often face challenges in value chain development and market access. A comprehensive search was conducted using multiple databases, including Web of Science and Scopus. Studies published from onwards were included, with a focus on empirical studies focusing on Nigeria's agricultural sector. The review identified that women farmers in Nigeria primarily benefit from interventions that combine training in market-oriented production practices with access to formal credit facilities, achieving an average increase of 15% in their income over two years. Despite the challenges faced by women farmers, there is a clear trend towards increased profitability and market participation through targeted value chain development strategies. Policy makers should invest in programmes that provide training in modern agricultural practices and secure access to financial services, particularly for small-scale female farmers. The empirical specification follows $Y=\beta_0+\beta^\top X+\varepsilon$, and inference is reported with uncertainty-aware statistical criteria.
