Innovative Waste Management in Ghanaian Landfills: Economic Growth and Environmental Impact Analysis
Abstract
In Ghana, landfills are a critical issue due to inadequate waste management practices, leading to environmental degradation and potential economic losses. A comprehensive search strategy was employed using electronic databases such as Web of Science and Google Scholar. Studies were screened for relevance to the topic and included if they met predefined criteria. An analysis revealed that innovative waste management practices, particularly those involving composting and recycling initiatives, showed a positive economic growth potential by creating jobs and reducing landfill costs. Innovative waste management solutions in Ghanaian landfills have the potential to enhance both environmental health and economic stability, though further empirical research is recommended. Policy makers should prioritise funding for sustainable waste management projects that integrate recycling programmes and composting facilities. The empirical specification follows $Y=\beta_0+\beta^\top X+\varepsilon$, and inference is reported with uncertainty-aware statistical criteria.
