Methodological Evaluation of Manufacturing Systems in South Africa Using Difference-in-Differences for Clinical Outcomes Measurement

Abstract
Manufacturing systems in South Africa are pivotal to economic growth and industrial development. However, their performance metrics often lack robust evaluation methodologies. The DiD approach was employed to assess changes in operational efficiency across a sample of manufacturing plants, comparing pre- and post-intervention periods. Data from over 200 factories were analysed to ensure representativeness. A significant improvement (p < 0.05) in production output was observed between the intervention and control groups, indicating effective system improvements implemented by manufacturers. The DiD model provided a robust framework for evaluating manufacturing systems' performance in South Africa, offering insights into potential areas of enhancement.
