Abstract
Afrofuturism is a contemporary cultural movement that explores African identity through science fiction and speculative narratives. It has gained traction in discussions about future-oriented perspectives on Africa. The study employs a qualitative approach, analysing existing Afrofuturist works and scholarly discussions about Africa's future development in Libya. Afrofuturism themes such as technological advancement, environmental sustainability, and cultural revival are prominently featured in Libyan discourse on the country’s potential future scenarios. The integration of Afrofuturism into academic discussions provides a unique perspective for understanding Libya's evolving socio-political environment and its aspirations for the future. Future research should consider incorporating Afrofuturist perspectives to enrich existing narratives about African futures, particularly in contexts like Libya where technological and environmental challenges are paramount.
