Entrepreneurship Ecosystems and Innovation Hubs in Kenya's East African Context,

This study examines the development of entrepreneurship ecosystems and innovation hubs in Kenya within the broader context of East Africa. No empirical data collection was conducted; instead, a review of existing literature and case studies were analysed to understand the dynamics of entrepreneurship ecosystems in Kenya's East African setting. A notable theme identified is the increasing role of digital platforms in facilitating access to markets for local entrepreneurs, with a proportion exceeding 50% among surveyed hubs. Despite challenges such as limited funding and regulatory barriers, there are promising developments in digital infrastructure that have contributed to enhancing entrepreneurial opportunities in Kenya’s innovation hubs. Investment in digital literacy programmes for small businesses is recommended alongside the need for more inclusive policies that support diverse business models.
