Climate Change and Human Security in the Sahel: A Mixed-Methods Study from Egypt's Perspective

Abstract
The Sahel region is facing severe climate change impacts, threatening human security in terms of livelihoods, health, and societal stability. A mixed-methods approach combining qualitative interviews with focus groups and a quantitative survey to explore perceptions and practices related to climate change impacts. The findings reveal that approximately 60% of respondents experienced reduced agricultural yields due to erratic rainfall patterns, affecting food security in the region. Climate change exacerbates existing vulnerabilities leading to significant challenges for human security in the Sahel. Addressing these issues requires integrated approaches involving both community and governmental sectors. Implement climate-resilient agriculture practices and strengthen early warning systems to mitigate future impacts of climate change on human security.
