Abstract
Sustainable agriculture practices are crucial for maintaining productivity in arid regions of Nigeria, where climate change exacerbates water scarcity and soil degradation. A qualitative study employing thematic analysis to identify farmer perceptions and constraints related to adopting sustainable agriculture practices. The theoretical framework highlights the importance of addressing socio-economic barriers through policy interventions and community engagement to facilitate greater farmer uptake of sustainable agricultural practices. Develop targeted extension services and subsidies for water-saving irrigation technologies, alongside capacity-building programmes focused on soil health management. Encourage farmer cooperatives to pool resources for collective purchasing of inputs and share knowledge.
