Abstract

Renewable energy projects in East Africa face significant financing challenges due to limited access to capital and high costs. The analysis draws upon qualitative research methods including interviews and document reviews from selected East African countries, emphasising Liberian case studies. The Liberian experience highlights the potential for leveraging international funding and public-private partnerships to accelerate renewable energy deployment, particularly in off-grid rural areas. Policy makers should prioritise creating favorable regulatory environments and fostering stronger collaborations between government entities and private sector financiers. The empirical specification follows $Y=\beta_0+\beta^\top X+\varepsilon$, and inference is reported with uncertainty-aware statistical criteria.
