Abstract

The Nile Basin spans multiple countries in East Africa, including Ghana, where water scarcity is a pressing issue affecting agricultural productivity and social stability. A mixed-methods survey was conducted involving both quantitative and qualitative data collection. Respondents included farmers, government officials, and community leaders in selected districts across the basin. The preliminary findings suggest that approximately 60% of respondents reported experiencing water scarcity issues, with significant disparities observed between rural and urban areas. The survey highlights a complex interplay between water resource availability and potential conflict scenarios, necessitating targeted interventions to mitigate risks. Policy recommendations include the implementation of adaptive agricultural practices, improved water management strategies, and enhanced community engagement programmes focused on water conservation efforts.
