Abstract

Youth entrepreneurship in urban slums of Cameroon faces significant challenges due to limited resources and social support networks. Qualitative data collection methods including participant interviews and focus group discussions were employed to understand the experiences and perspectives of workshop participants. A notable theme emerged regarding the significant proportion (45%) of businesses that achieved profitability within two years post-workshop, driven by mentorship support and networking opportunities provided. The study highlights the importance of tailored support programmes in fostering youth entrepreneurship success in urban slums. Policy makers should prioritise funding for mentoring services and community engagement initiatives to enhance workshop outcomes.
