E-Learning Platforms for Vocational Training Among Urban Youth in Lagos: A Data Descriptor
Abstract
E-learning platforms have emerged as a significant tool for vocational training in urban youth education, offering flexible learning opportunities and potentially bridging gaps in traditional classroom settings. A mixed-methods approach was employed, including surveys (n=200) and qualitative interviews (n=30), supplemented by secondary data analysis from official government reports. The survey revealed that 75% of participants reported improved access to training materials through e-learning platforms compared to traditional methods. However, affordability was a significant challenge for 40% of respondents. While e-learning platforms offer enhanced flexibility and accessibility, they face challenges related to cost and infrastructure in urban settings. Investment should be directed towards reducing costs for users and enhancing internet connectivity in underserved areas.
