Abstract

The Nile Basin in Gambia is a transboundary water resource facing increasing competition from multiple riparian states. A comparative study using secondary data analysis of existing reports and literature on water management in the region. The findings indicate that while some initiatives have been successful in reducing conflicts over shared resources, there is a need for more integrated governance structures among riparian states. Despite initial successes, ongoing challenges persist, necessitating further collaborative efforts and policy reforms to address water scarcity effectively. Strengthen regional cooperation through joint management frameworks and capacity building initiatives.
