Abstract
Afrofuturism is a contemporary cultural movement that explores African identity through speculative and futuristic narratives. A qualitative action research approach was employed, involving interviews with cultural practitioners and policy makers, and thematic content analysis of futurist works. Themes such as technological integration and environmental sustainability were prominent across interviewed sources, indicating a growing interest in these areas among Senegalese urban thinkers. Afrofuturism offers valuable insights into the aspirations and challenges faced by African cities, particularly regarding innovation and sustainable development. Urban planners and policymakers should consider Afrofuturist perspectives to inform more inclusive and forward-looking city planning initiatives in Senegal.
