Abstract
This commentary examines informal cross-border trade in ECOWAS within Botswana's context, highlighting its significance for regional integration. No empirical data or results are included; a critical review of academic articles and policy documents is conducted. Regional integration efforts should prioritise supportive policies for the informal trade sector to foster inclusive growth. Policy makers in ECOWAS countries should consider implementing measures to facilitate cross-border transactions and provide legal frameworks for small traders.
