Abstract

The Sahel region of Cameroon is facing significant challenges due to climate change, impacting human security in various ways. The analysis employs qualitative methods including interviews with local communities, government officials, and research studies to understand current vulnerabilities and future projections. Local populations have reported a 20% increase in crop failures due to erratic rainfall patterns over the last decade, highlighting the critical need for adaptive strategies. Climate change exacerbates existing security challenges by increasing vulnerability to food insecurity and health crises, necessitating immediate action from both government and community sectors. Implementing early warning systems, improving agricultural practices, and enhancing healthcare services are recommended to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change on human security in the Sahel region of Cameroon.
