Abstract

Community health workers (CHWs) play a crucial role in delivering essential healthcare services to underserved populations in Ghanaian coastal regions. Effective training and retention strategies are vital for ensuring sustainable service delivery. Theoretical analysis will be employed to explore existing literature on CHW training in Ghanaian coastal areas and draw comparative insights from Egyptian studies. Theoretical propositions will be formulated based on this analysis. The theoretical framework provides a robust foundation for understanding the challenges and solutions in retaining effective community health workers in Ghanaian coastal regions. It offers practical recommendations for programme developers. Developing culturally sensitive training curricula, establishing mentorship programmes, and incorporating financial incentives should be prioritised to ensure effective CHW performance and retention.
