Abstract

Cultural heritage in West Africa is increasingly at risk from environmental factors, population growth, and urbanization. Digital preservation initiatives are emerging as a critical strategy to safeguard this invaluable resource for future generations. Theoretical synthesis and analysis will be employed to explore existing literature and identify gaps in understanding. A thematic approach will be used to categorize and analyse relevant concepts and frameworks. The theoretical framework highlights the need for more inclusive and culturally sensitive approaches to digitization in West African contexts. Recommendations include integrating local communities into decision-making processes and promoting research collaboration between scholars and practitioners.
