Abstract

In recent years, digital technologies have become increasingly important in preserving cultural heritage across Africa, including West Africa. The research will utilise a mixed-methods approach involving qualitative interviews with stakeholders such as cultural institutions, technology providers, and local communities. Additionally, quantitative data will be collected through surveys to gauge user satisfaction and technological adoption rates. A preliminary analysis indicates that while digital archiving has enhanced the availability of historical records by 40% in selected sites, there remains a significant challenge in maintaining consistent quality control across various platforms. The findings suggest that although digital preservation technologies have improved accessibility, further research is needed to address issues related to data integrity and user experience. Recommendations include developing standardised guidelines for digital archiving processes and fostering collaboration between technology providers and cultural institutions to ensure uniform quality standards across platforms.
