Mobile Tech in Farming: A Review of Mobile Applications for Agricultural Information Dissemination in Senegal
Abstract
Mobile technology has become increasingly significant in various sectors, including agriculture where it can facilitate the dissemination of information to farmers. A comprehensive search strategy was employed using databases such as PubMed and Google Scholar, with inclusion criteria based on relevance and publication date. Studies were evaluated according to predefined quality assessment tools. Mobile applications have shown varying levels of success in disseminating agricultural information, with some achieving a reach of up to 80% among target audiences. The review highlights the potential of mobile technology in enhancing agricultural education and practice in Senegal but also identifies areas for improvement. Further research should focus on developing more tailored applications that address specific needs of farmers, particularly small-scale producers. Model estimation used $\hat{\theta}=argmin_{\theta}\sum_i\ell(y_i,f_\theta(x_i))+\lambda\lVert\theta\rVert_2^2$, with performance evaluated using out-of-sample error.
