Urban waste management is a critical issue in Lagos, Nigeria, where poor management leads to environmental degradation and health risks. The need for sustainable lifestyle behaviour changes among urban residents has been identified as a key strategy to address these challenges. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining quantitative data from a survey with qualitative insights from focus group discussions among the target population. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics for quantitative results and thematic analysis for qualitative findings. Approximately 75% of respondents reported increased awareness about waste segregation after engaging with the IS, which aligns with their intention to adopt more sustainable practices in daily life, such as recycling and reducing waste. The IS has successfully enhanced residents' engagement and awareness regarding urban waste management, contributing to a shift towards more sustainable lifestyle behaviors. Future research could explore the long-term impact of these changes on environmental sustainability. Further development of the IS should focus on providing educational content tailored to different cultural contexts within Lagos, thereby increasing its effectiveness in promoting sustainable practices among a wider audience.
