Abstract

This study examines the legal framework governing refugees and asylum seekers in Senegal within the broader context of East Africa. A qualitative approach was adopted by reviewing legal documents, scholarly articles, and international guidelines. Comparative law analysis was employed to synthesize findings from Senegal with other East African countries. Recent legislative changes in Senegal have introduced a more structured framework for asylum applications, though gaps remain concerning integration policies and socio-economic support. The legal landscape is evolving but requires further consolidation to ensure compliance with international standards. Senegalese authorities should enhance integration programmes to better accommodate refugees and address their socioeconomic needs. International cooperation in this area remains crucial.
