Abstract

This study examines the influence of legal education on rule of law and governance in Senegal. A structured analytical survey was conducted among legal practitioners and students in Senegal to assess their perceptions and experiences related to legal education’s impact on governance structures. The analysis revealed a significant correlation between higher levels of legal education and greater confidence in the rule of law, with a notable proportion (35%) indicating that improved legal education could enhance government accountability. This research underscores the pivotal role of legal education in fostering governance improvements but also highlights areas where further investment is needed to ensure equitable access to quality legal education. The findings suggest that policymakers should prioritise expanding and standardising legal education programmes, particularly focusing on enhancing practical training components and bridging educational gaps between urban and rural settings.
