Abstract

Digital literacy among urban elderly in Lagos is a growing concern as technology integration into daily life increases. A comparative study using surveys and interviews among 500 participants in Lagos, Nigeria, collected data from April to March . Digital literacy training access showed significant disparities by socio-economic status (SES), with a proportion of 60% among the lowest SES cohort having regular access compared to 90% in highest SES. Usage patterns revealed higher engagement in financial transactions and social media use, while less frequent for educational resources. Despite challenges, digital literacy training is beneficial for urban elderly in Lagos, especially those from lower socio-economic backgrounds. Tailored digital literacy programmes should be developed to address specific needs of the lowest SES cohort, including financial education and social media safety awareness.
