Abstract

The Nile Basin is a critical water resource for multiple countries in East Africa, including Nigeria, where water scarcity and competition over this scarce resource are escalating. The analysis is based on a review of existing literature, consultations with stakeholders, and theoretical frameworks relevant to conflict resolution in resource-rich regions. The paper underscores the necessity for proactive dialogue and collaborative frameworks to prevent future conflicts over shared resources in the Nile Basin. Recommendations include fostering regional cooperation through joint commissions, establishing clear legal frameworks, and promoting adaptive management practices.
