Abstract

Restorative justice programmes are gaining traction in urban settings to address youth delinquency and promote community healing. An action research approach was employed in Dakar to assess programme implementation, participant feedback, and outcomes over a year-long period. Participants reported increased empathy and reduced recidivism rates following restorative justice sessions compared to traditional punitive measures. Restorative justice effectively reduces youth delinquency by fostering community engagement and understanding. Expand replication of successful programmes in urban schools, leveraging existing community resources for continuous support. restorative justice, urban youth, Dakar, Senegal, educational intervention
