Abstract

Migrant workers in Egyptian ports face significant challenges to job security due to precarious labour conditions and limited legal protections. A review of existing literature and data on labour rights in Egyptian ports was conducted to establish a comprehensive understanding of the issue. The analysis revealed that job security rates among migrant workers varied significantly across different initiatives, ranging from 25% to 60%, with a notable decline over time. Despite efforts by advocacy groups, persistent challenges remain in ensuring fair and stable employment for migrant workers at Egyptian ports. Implementing standardised job security policies, enhancing communication channels between workers and employers, and fostering community support networks are recommended to improve conditions.
