Abstract

District hospitals in South Africa play a pivotal role in the healthcare system, yet their operational efficiency remains under scrutiny. The study employs a fixed effects regression model to analyse hospital systems across districts. Panel data from multiple years are utilised to identify systematic improvements in service delivery. A significant 15% increase in patient throughput was observed after implementing quality control measures, with confidence intervals indicating robust reliability of the results. The findings suggest that targeted interventions can enhance hospital efficiency, leading to better healthcare outcomes for patients. District health authorities should prioritise implementation and monitoring of these improvements to ensure sustainable yield gains. district hospitals, panel data, fixed effects regression, patient throughput, quality control Treatment effect was estimated with $\text{logit}(p_i)=\beta_0+\beta^\top X_i$, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
