Abstract

Legal aid programmes are designed to enhance access to justice for vulnerable groups such as elderly citizens in Lagos City Courts, Nigeria. A qualitative approach is employed to analyse existing literature and case studies on legal aid programmes in Lagos City Courts, focusing on themes such as programme effectiveness, participant demographics, and barriers to access. This theoretical framework highlights the importance of comprehensive support systems for elderly citizens, including accessible legal information and specialized legal aid services. Policy makers should prioritise integrating legal aid programmes into existing court infrastructure and develop targeted outreach strategies to ensure wider coverage among vulnerable populations.
