Governance Dynamics in Angola's Oil and Gas Landscape,: An Ethnographic Perspective

This study explores governance dynamics in Angola's oil and gas sector from through an ethnographic lens. An ethnographic approach was employed, involving participant observation and semi-structured interviews with key stakeholders including government officials, industry representatives, and civil society groups to capture a comprehensive view of governance practices in the oil and gas sector. A notable finding is that there is a significant disparity (p < 0.05) in the proportion of revenues allocated towards social programmes compared to those invested in environmental protection measures, indicating potential imbalances in resource allocation strategies. The study concludes by highlighting the importance of balancing economic growth with sustainable development goals within the oil and gas sector, particularly emphasising the need for transparent governance practices. Recommendations include advocating for more equitable distribution of revenue towards both social programmes and environmental protection to ensure long-term sustainability and compliance with international standards. The empirical specification follows $Y=\beta_0+\beta^\top X+\varepsilon$, and inference is reported with uncertainty-aware statistical criteria.
