Abstract

The Legal Framework for Refugees and Asylum Seekers in East Africa Within Liberia's Context examines the legal landscape surrounding refugees and asylum seekers in East African countries, focusing on the specific context of Liberia. The study employs an analytical approach, drawing on existing legal documents, academic literature, and interviews with legal experts in East Africa to construct a theoretical framework. This paper concludes by highlighting inconsistencies between national laws and international commitments, suggesting areas for improvement in refugee protection policies within Liberia. Recommendations include harmonizing national legislation with relevant international agreements, enhancing judicial training on refugee law, and strengthening community engagement programmes to support refugees.
