Gender-Specific Policies in Urban Nigerian Communities: An Analysis of Sexual and Reproductive Health Interventions

Abstract
Urban Nigerian communities face significant challenges in addressing sexual and reproductive health issues, particularly for women and girls. Gender-specific policies are crucial to ensure equitable access to healthcare services. The analysis employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative data from surveys with qualitative insights from focus group discussions and interviews among community members and healthcare providers. Gender disparities were evident in access to sexual and reproductive health services, with women reporting lower levels of service utilization compared to men. Findings highlight the need for culturally sensitive interventions tailored to different gender groups. Current policies aimed at improving sexual and reproductive health face challenges related to accessibility and cultural acceptance. Recommendations are provided to address these issues effectively. Policy recommendations include increasing community engagement, enhancing cultural sensitivity in service delivery, and integrating digital platforms for wider reach.
