Abstract

The Senegalese legal system has been grappling with sustainable development challenges in recent years. A qualitative analysis of existing laws, court decisions, and expert opinions was conducted to evaluate the adequacy and implementation of sustainable development measures. There is a notable gap between statutory provisions designed for sustainability and their actual application in practice, with only 30% of cases incorporating environmental considerations effectively. Current legal strategies fall short in addressing the multifaceted challenges posed by sustainable development in Senegal. The review recommends strengthening intersectoral cooperation among government agencies to ensure better integration of sustainability principles into all sectors of public policy and practice.
