Enhancing Community Health Workers' Role in Urban Ghana: A Theoretical Framework for Maternal Health Care Delivery Evaluation

Abstract
Urban slums in Ghana face significant challenges in maternal health care delivery, necessitating innovative approaches to enhance community health workers' (CHWs') roles. A comprehensive review of existing literature, including qualitative studies and programme evaluations from Ghanaian urban settings, will be conducted to inform the theoretical framework. Theoretical insights derived from this review can guide policymakers and practitioners in designing more effective interventions to improve maternal health care delivery in Ghanaian urban slums. Future research should focus on longitudinal studies assessing the long-term impact of CHW-led initiatives. Policy recommendations include increased funding for training programmes and improved community support structures.
