Gender Dynamics in Sub-Saharan African Legal Systems: A Theoretical Framework for Eritrea

Abstract
Sub-Saharan Africa, including Eritrea, faces complex gender dynamics within its legal systems, reflecting broader societal norms and values. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed to analyse legal texts, court decisions, and secondary sources, focusing on gender dimensions as they manifest within Eritrea's legal frameworks. This framework aims to inform legal scholars, policymakers, and practitioners about gender-specific challenges within Eritrea's legal system, fostering a more inclusive and equitable approach. Policy recommendations include advocating for gender-sensitive training programmes for judicial staff and promoting legislative reforms that address gender disparities in the justice sector.
