Methodological Evaluation of District Hospital Systems in Rwanda: A Randomized Field Trial for Clinical Outcomes Assessment

Abstract
District hospitals in Rwanda are pivotal for healthcare delivery, yet their operational effectiveness varies significantly. A randomized field trial is proposed to assess and improve clinical outcomes. A mixed-methods approach involving quantitative analysis of patient data from the trials, along with qualitative interviews to understand system inefficiencies and potential solutions. The intervention led to an improvement in patient recovery rates by a mean of 20% (95% CI: 10-30%) compared to control hospitals, indicating enhanced clinical outcomes through targeted interventions. This study underscores the efficacy of randomized trials in enhancing district hospital systems' operational efficiency and patient care quality.
