Abstract

Female cattle breeders in northern Nigeria face significant economic challenges due to limited access to formal markets and financing options. A mixed-methods approach was employed, including structured interviews, participatory workshops, and secondary data analysis to explore the impact of supported initiatives. Female participants reported increased livestock sales by 25% following microfinance support, which significantly improved their financial stability and purchasing power for essential household items. The study underscores the importance of comprehensive support systems in boosting economic resilience among female cattle breeders in northern Nigeria. Microfinance institutions should collaborate more closely with local extension services to provide targeted credit products, while government policies could be strengthened to create a conducive environment for such initiatives.
