Abstract

This study examines the impact of holistic agriculture training programmes on farmers in Senegalese agricultural provinces, drawing parallels with Nigeria’s experiences. A qualitative approach was employed to collect data through interviews and focus group discussions among farmers in selected provinces, aiming at understanding programme effectiveness and farmer feedback. Farmers reported significant improvements in crop yields and water management techniques after participating in the training programmes. A notable theme emerged regarding increased adoption of sustainable farming practices. The findings suggest that holistic agriculture training can lead to substantial knowledge gains among farmers, warranting policy support for such initiatives. Local governments should prioritise funding and infrastructure development to sustain these programmes and ensure wider farmer participation.
