Educational Formality and Employment Outcomes Among Youth Aged 20-30 in Lagos, Nigeria,

Abstract

The study examines the impact of formal education on employment outcomes among youth aged 20-30 in Lagos, Nigeria. A qualitative study employing semi-structured interviews to gather data from a purposive sample of 50 individuals in Lagos, Nigeria. Findings indicate that those with formal education have higher employability rates (82%) compared to non-formal educated peers (45%). Formal education significantly enhances employability and workplace performance among youth aged 20-30 in Lagos, Nigeria. Investment in formal education should be prioritised to improve employment outcomes for young Nigerians.
