Impact of Agricultural Extension Services on Herder Livestock Productivity in Djenné, Mali: An Action Research Study
Abstract
Herders in Djenné, Mali face challenges in livestock productivity due to various socio-economic factors. A mixed-methods approach including interviews, focus groups, and data analysis was employed to gather insights from local stakeholders. The provision of veterinary support significantly improved herd health outcomes by reducing disease incidence by 40% among the study population. Agricultural extension services have a positive impact on herder livestock productivity in Djenné, Mali, particularly through enhanced veterinary care. Continued and expanded agricultural extension programmes should include more health-focused interventions to further improve herd productivity and sustainability.
