Abstract

Telemedicine has emerged as a critical tool for improving healthcare access in resource-limited settings, including urban areas like Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. The research employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative data from health facility records with qualitative insights through interviews and focus groups conducted among patients and healthcare providers. Telemedicine significantly increased the number of remote consultations by 30% compared to in-person visits, particularly for low-income women who face geographical barriers to care. The findings suggest that telemedicine can enhance maternal healthcare access without compromising service quality, making it a viable solution for improving health outcomes in resource-constrained settings. Health policymakers should prioritise the expansion of telemedicine services and integrate them into existing healthcare infrastructures to maximise their benefits.
