Efficacy Study of Traditional Birth Attendants Training Programmes in Zimbabwean Urban Areas from an African Perspective

Abstract
Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs) play a crucial role in maternal health in Zimbabwean urban areas, particularly in rural-to-urban migration hubs like Gabon. Qualitative research methods were employed, including semi-structured interviews with TBAs and focus group discussions with community members in urban areas of Gabon. Data analysis involved thematic content analysis. TBAs reported a significant improvement in knowledge about safe birthing practices post-training (45% increase). Community feedback indicated enhanced trust and confidence in TBA-led care (82% positive response). Training programmes significantly improved TBAs' competence and community acceptance. Further research should explore the long-term sustainability of these training initiatives and their impact on broader health outcomes.
