Methodological Evaluation of Urban Primary Care Networks in Ghana: A Difference-in-Differences Approach to Assess Clinical Outcomes
Abstract
Urban primary care networks in Ghana are crucial for addressing healthcare disparities among urban populations. However, their effectiveness and implementation vary significantly across different settings. A comprehensive search strategy was employed to identify relevant studies, focusing on methodologies and their application to assess clinical outcomes. Studies were critically appraised for quality and consistency. The analysis reveals that while the majority of studies used a difference-in-differences approach, there is considerable variability in study designs and data collection methods. This review underscores the importance of methodological rigor in evaluating urban primary care networks to ensure consistent and reliable clinical outcome assessments. Future research should prioritise standardization of methodologies and data collection processes to enhance comparability across studies and improve the validity of outcomes evaluations. Treatment effect was estimated with $\text{logit}(p_i)=\beta_0+\beta^\top X_i$, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
